Synopsis:

When charming rake Tristan Barrett sweeps Lady Elizabeth off her feet, stealing both her heart and a kiss in a secluded garden, her brother challenges Tristan to a duel. The only way to save her brother and Tristan from harm—not to mention preserve her reputation—is to get married. But her father, the Duke of Pemberton, refuses to allow his daughter to marry anyone but a titled lord. The duke demands that Elizabeth marry Tristan’s older brother, Richard, the Earl of Averston. Now Elizabeth must give up Tristan to marry a man who despises her, a man who loves another, a man she’ll never love. Richard fears Elizabeth is as untrustworthy as his mother, who ran off with another man. However, to protect his brother from a duel and their family name from further scandal, he agrees to the wedding, certain his new bride will betray him. Yet when Elizabeth turns his house upside down and worms her way into his reluctant heart, Richard suspects he can’t live without his new countess. Will she stay with him or is it too little, too late?

I love Regency romance and I love clean romance - Donna Hatch's books fit both qualifications! I love reading her books and have never been disappointed in her writing. Her talent is amazing and her characters come to life. This book was unique and fun - the arranged marriage and having to learn to love and trust each other, Elizabeth and Richard are a perfect example of the consequences for types of scandal and rules of the Regency era. I love that they don't just fall into each other's arms, but rather that they have to learn about each other, discover their own feelings, and figure out how to make the best of the situation in which they find themselves. There is a lot of emotions touched and reflective moments in this book and I was completely captivated through the entire thing! I will absolutely be reading this book again and I highly recommend any of Donna Hatch's books to anyone who appreciates good writing, sweet romance, and regency!

Let's get a sneak peek at Richard and Tristain - and their brotherly bond!

Tristan grinned at Richard. “So the banns were read in both parishes and no one dared to raise a challenge, huh?”
“Apparently no one has yet learned about my other twelve wives,” Richard rejoined, relaxing in his brother’s calming company.
Tristan’s eyes glinted. “Or our nine drooling half-wit brothers and sisters.”
“One of whom is in my bedroom quizzing my valet.”
“The other of whom is getting married today.”
“Thus saving her from a more gruesome fate of marrying the village idiot.” Richard made a sweeping gesture toward Tristan.
Tristan peered at him. “By the way, has she seen you in daylight, yet?”
Richard drew himself up. “She could hardly keep her eyes off me yesterday. Last night she threw herself into my arms.”
“Clearly she has no sense.”
